I am not usually a stat man myself but some of these really do sum up our disappointing season.
We will look at some of the usual stats, such as win percentages, but we will also show you some of the more surprising numbers we have found from throughout the season.
All statistics refer to PNE's 46 game's played in League 1.
Statistics
- Win % - 28.3%
- Lose % - 39.1%
- Draw % - 32.6%
- Average goals scored per game - 1.17 Average goals conceded per game - 1.47
- PNE held a lead in only 19.6% of their games, compared to the opposition leading in 30.4% of matches.
- The longest winning streak of the season award went to Preston, with 7 consecutive wins.
- At one stage in the season Preston went 11 games without a draw. Inconsistency. Also during another spell the club went 9 games without a win.
- PNE's October was the worst of any club in the entire league, as they drew 1 and lost 5 and found themselves bottom of the form table. A real turning point in the teams season.
- Preston only managed to come from behind and take all three points on 2 occasions and came back from a losing position to draw 4 times. The third worst "resolve" record in the league.
- Iain Hume was PNE's top scorer with 9 goals, with only 2 at Deepdale compared to 7 away from home.
- The most frequently occurring scoreline at full time at Deepdale was 0-0 as PNE fought out a scoreless stalemate at home 4 times, which is 17.4% of home fixtures.
- PNE finished 14th in the away results league this season. Slightly better than their home form. (see below)
- PNE have had the second least amount of shots on goal all season. The whites have only mustered 413 shots on goal and are only being propped up by Hatlepool Utd who conjured up 399 efforts. In comparison Notts County toped the shots table with 550 strikes at goal.
- As well as the above PNE have had the third highest amount of shots against them with 538 efforts at their goal all season. Whereas the lowest was promotion winners Sheffield Wednesday with just 377.
- PNE conceded the third highest amount of corners all season, 285. In comparison the team who conceded the least were play-off hopefuls Huddersfield Town with 200.
- PNE have the 5th highest average home attendance in the division, 11,429. Excellent support particularly when you consider the disappointing season. Promotion winners Sheffield Wednesday had the highest average of 21,336 and the lowest was relegated Rochdale with 3,109.
